Typical Andel activities on an interceptor waste and drainage site visit
Andel protects the environment from the risk of pollution by maintaining your interceptors and surface water drainage systems, keeping you compliant with regulations at all times, wherever you are in the UK. The illustration below shows a range of site activities undertaken on a typical site visit and inspection. You can use your mouse to hover over any number to see a description of the activity (or touch on a touchscreen device).
We inspect and certify, we carry out full drainage trace surveys and mapping as required by the emergency services,
as well as drain-condition surveys using state-of-the-art equipment including camera probes, camera-mounted robots
and industry-leading WinCan reporting software. Andel’s site surveys will give early warning of any potential problems,
highlighting any remedial work required and eliminating any risk of a pollution incident through failure of your
drainage system.
Our team of fully-trained and fully-equipped operatives will carry out any remedial work needed, such as repairing
and unblocking damaged drains and gullies including tree root cutting and removal.
Environment Agency guidelines state that interceptors should be inspected regularly with a major structural survey every five years.
Andel provides a comprehensive and cost-effective service for underground interceptors, our engineers are trained to carry out work to the highest
standards.
Andel inspections and the monitoring of interceptor alarm equipment and auto-closure devices will eliminate the risk of a pollution incident
and will give early warning of any potential problems.
Andel provides a comprehensive interceptor tank maintenance, installation and commissioning service. For interceptors that have been installed by a third party
we check that all aspects of the installation have been undertaken correctly:
Ensuring the interceptor is watertight
Inspection of the filter to ensure security and positioning is correct
Inspection of the alarm system and auto-closure devices
Calibration of the oil layer thickness probe
Inspection of the chambers for any sign of silt.
Planned interceptor maintenance.
If an interceptor needs emptying, we use environmentally-friendly, de-watering tankers that only take away contaminants and not grey water. Andel’s tankers are equipped to extract the
contents of the tank on site, separate the water from the oil, silt and any
other impurities and return the grey water to the tank.
Because we are not carrying grey water around in our tankers, we are able to cover several sites in one day – offering a lower cost
to customers.
Because we are refilling the interceptor with the filtered water from the tanker– we avoid the costly and time-inefficient exercise
of refilling the interceptor tank from the mains water supply – saving customers time and money as well as conserving water and reducing
environmental impact.
Also, our mileage is reduced as we can avoid having to make repeat visits to waste disposal sites – reducing costs and reducing
diesel emissions from our tankers.
Typical Andel site activities include drain condition surveys using state-of-the-art CCTV camera-mounted robots and industry-leading Wincan reporting software. Our fully-trained operatives repair and unblock damaged drains and gullies including tree root cutting and removal. Interceptors are regularly inspected and maintained and only emptied when required by environmentally-friendly, de-watering tankers which only take away contaminants and not grey water – which means cost savings for customers, water conservation and reduced environmental impact.
Cost-effective management of your interceptors and surface water drainage systems. With many years of experience in this specialised field, Andel has become a recognised market-leader in the management and servicing of underground interceptor waste tanks, separators and surface water drainage systems.
A correct and current drainage plan is required by the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001 and the Ground Water Regulations (1998).
Andel’s drain survey report can be tailored to suit customer requirements. The report will identify which drain performs which function and the route of each drain will be traced and mapped onto a site plan.
